Why is inguinal hernioplasty done?

It is a surgical procedure done to repair protrusion of soft intestinal tissue through a weakness or tear in the lower abdominal wall, occurring

  • Congenitally or with age
  • Due to strain and/or other medical conditions.

 

How is inguinal hernioplasty done?

  • A single long incision is made over the hernia and the intestinal contents are pushed back into the abdomen.
  • The abdominal wall is reinforced with stitches or a mesh the cover the entire inguinal area and potential hernia openings.
