DHAKA, June 6 (Bernama) -- Bangladeshi tourists will get the chance to visit Malaysia under a medical package of only US$600 (RM1, 930). The package, jointly introduced by Tourism Malaysia , Newport Holidays and Malaysia Healthcare was announced at a press conference here Thursday.
The announcement was in conjunction with the opening of the Malaysia Healthcare office in Dhaka by Malaysian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Datuk Abdul Malek Abdul Aziz and chief executive officer of Malaysia Healthcare Suresh Ponnudurai. Launching the package, Abdul Malek said Malaysia had become another Asian player in the thriving medical tourism market. An estimated 360,000 health tourists came to the country last year, up 20 per cent from2006.
The charges are competitive compared with the other countries, he said, adding that 254 private hospitals in Malaysia are ready to provide services at cheaper rates. Describing Malaysia Healthcare as a global facilitator for health tourism in Malaysia , he said: "It is a one-stop destination for medical and tourism-related needs, bringing together all related service providers on a single platform." He said Bangladeshis can plan, arrange and manage their complete treatment and holiday in Malaysia in the comfort of their homes.
The medical package offered to Bangladeshis includes the return economy- class airfare on Malaysia Airlines, 3-day/2-night three-star hotel accommodation, daily breakfast, return airport-hotel transfer, health screening, with complete simple questionnaire and advice by doctors. Travelers under the medical package can also avail to the medical loan provided by the BRAC Bank of Bangladesh with remittance facilities.
